The 77th Emmy Awards Ceremony will officially be held next Sunday, where the largest industry TV award will be awarded. But Emmy has actually won so many awards, revealing some of the winners a week earlier.
Based on these preliminary results, Apple TV+ is set up for success. In total, the service has won 15 wins thanks to the powers of the season’s comedy The Studio and sci-fi drama Severance.
The studio has been the forefront of winning the prestigious Outstanding Comedy Series award since it received a total of 23 nominations earlier this year, a comedy series record.
The first round of victory confirms that prediction. The studio has won production design, casting, cinematography, contemporary costumes, photo editing, music director, sound editing and sound mixing.
Brian Cranston also won an outstanding guest actor in the comedy series victory in his role as studio chief Griffin Mill.
On the drama side, the retirees won in production design, cinematography, title design, musical composition and sound mixing. Merritt Weber also won an outstanding guest actress in the drama series that portrayed Dylan’s wife Gretchen.
The studio now seems like comedy rock, but the outstanding drama series race remains close. Resignation is definitely a candidate, but HBO MAX’s The Pitt also has a strong opportunity.
The next weekend, Apple TV+ hopes that some of the other nominated series can be converted into victory, including reduced, slow horses, presumed innocence, disclaimer, bad sisters, dope thieves and more.
But the best chance for the best honor is the studio clinching the best outstanding comedy. This is the third time Apple has won the Top Comedy TV award after Ted Lasso won two titles in its first two seasons.
Both retirement and studio will be updated for the third and second seasons, respectively.
