Liquid glass is the theme of Apple’s big cross-platform redesign this year. The new design also appears in Apple’s TV apps for iOS 26 and TVOS 26, with other UI updates taking part. This is new.
Apple TV App 26 to get liquid glass, new theatrical poster art, more changes to iOS 26
Apple’s TV app has gained more use than ever this year.
This fall, just in time to return Apple TV+ hits like Slow Horses and The Morning Show, iOS 26 and TVOS 26 will have some TV app design changes.
Design changes include:
- New poster art
- Increase content on screen at once
- Updated app icon
- Liquid glass buttons and menu
- Redesigned Player Control
The entire updated TV app shows new vertical poster art, replacing the design of older artwork. More “theatrical” designs also come with functional improvements.
Thanks to the new look, more shows and movies will be displayed on screen on iOS 26 and TVOS 26. Content density has been significantly improved.
TV apps also have updated app icons, and certain UI elements such as iOS tab bars use Liquid Glass.
One of the biggest beneficiaries of Liquid Glass is the control of the video player.
When watching a show or movie, the new transparent controls ensure that you don’t miss out on content on screen.
Instead, the liquid glass floats above the video without interfering with what’s going on underneath it.
